Detention: the 5-point system that gets you paid
Detention isn’t “hoping the broker pays.” It’s a documentation + timing discipline problem.
- Timestamp: arrival, check-in, dock, unload complete, exit.
- Get names: guard/shipping/receiving contact if possible.
- Document: lumper receipt, scale ticket, signed BOL.
- Notify early: at 1h after free time begins, message “detention running.”
- Submit fast: same day or next morning—late submissions get denied.
